The Peoria Junior Women’s Club is raising money in style with the seventh annual benefit style show and raffle that will raise money for the St. Jude Children’s research hospital. St. Jude patients will stroll the runway at the Peoria Civic Center on Thursday, April 11, after cocktails and raffles beginning at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the event cost $40 a person and raffle tickets are $2 each. In 1996, two Peoria women’s participation in the National Pony Express tour inspired the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to start the annual “Ride for the Cure.” The National Pony Express tour had raised over $317,000 and it was hoped that a similar event could raise money in conjunction with the Komen Foundation’s “Race for the Cure.” .......more
